Purpose:

Thermal Transfer Test

Description of product tested:

2.5 lbs. of Stouffers Escalloped Chicken & Noodles in a 8.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 Pyrex dish. (total weight 4.3 lbs.)

Description of Test:
  1. The thermal bag was placed in a 70° F temperature controlled room for 24 hours prior to testing.
  2. Stouffers frozen Escalloped Chicken & Noodles was placed in a Pyrex dish.
  3. A thermocouple from a Fluke model 54 digital dual input data logging thermometer was inserted into the Chicken & Noodles.
  4. The Chicken & Noodles was heated to 200° F.
  5. The hot Pyrex food dish was sealed inside the thermal bag and the bag was suspended by the handle.
  6. The temperature of the food dish was recorded every 15 minutes for 3 hours.

Two (2) sample thermal food bags identified as:

Purpose:

Determine heat resistance of inner bag liner. Description of product tested:
Pyrex dish ( 8.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 ) filled with sand, total weight 4.3 lbs.

Description of Test:
  1. Placed thermal bag in 70° F temperature controlled room for 24 hrs. prior to testing
  2. Heated Pyrex dish, w/sand, to 180° F
  3. Placed the heated Pyrex dish with sand in thermal bag for one minute
  4. Inspected thermal bag for damage
  5. Increased temperature 10° F and repeated steps 3 & 4 above until bag shows signs of thermal damage.
  6. Recorded final temperature
